Michael Pappas, Esq., is a Partner at Nixon Gwilt Law. He leverages over 15 years as legal counsel for leading health care and technology companies. Most recently, Mike served as General Counsel at Foodsmart, where he led the Legal, Compliance, and Security groups and managed the entire portfolio of sales, procurement, and technology agreements.
Prior to Foodsmart, Mike held senior leadership roles at Mathematica and KPMG leading digital health-focused regulatory and analytics teams. Mike also has in-house legal experience at Michigan’s largest health system and prior law firm experience.
With deep expertise spanning health care regulation, health technology and innovation, contract negotiations, compliance protocols, and health data analytics, Mike has driven transformative projects for government entities, health insurers, pharmaceutical firms, and health care providers of all sizes. Notable accomplishments include closing a multi-million dollar joint venture startup in the community health space and leading complex consulting engagements to shift Medicaid payments to value-based models.
Mike earned his JD, magna cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Law in Society. He holds a BA with High Distinction and High Honors from the University of Michigan.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys playing soccer, running team races, volunteering, and teaching statistics and data reporting skills. Mike makes his home in Michigan with his family, where he also provides Fetch! Pet Care services to his surrounding communities.
